The Walking Mountain
Drawing, Hand-stitching on korean fabric
2014-present

The source of The Walking Mountain drawings was a pile of stones I encountered in the mountains of South Korea, a familiar sight in the rural landscape. I see this form repeated in daily life--piles of rubble from demolished buildings, piles of brick and concrete waiting to be used for construction, simultaneous states of orientation, deterioration and becoming.

I've been creating drawings meditating on this form since 2014 while living in different countries in urban and rural contexts. The group includes over 80 drawings to date, which I exhibit in clusters or in an extended horizon line.

They were last exhibited at The Allen Memorial Art Museum at Oberlin College, Martin Art Gallery at Muhlenberg College, and at The Phillips Museum of Art at Franklin & Marshall College.
